Our History

Dubbo’s St John’s Junior Rugby League was founded by the De La Salle Brothers and parents of sons attending the catholic schools in Dubbo in 1972, to give the children access to football in a Christian environment. The Club was developed to maintain the values of the players education and foster these original teams of boys to develop their sporting abilities in a team of friendship and positive competition.

Many years on, the game has grown and changed. League Tag is an important addition to the Club in terms of competition and the community that supports the Club has gone from strength to strength but these same principals are still at the heart of St John’s Dubbo.

At St John’s, we believe that some of the most important learning happens after the final whistle blows. We believe that real winning comes after learning how to accept loss, caring for our fellow team mates and having respect for our volunteers, ourselves, the opposition and our peers.

What our logo represents

Adopted in 1995, the St John’s logo was selected after a local competition. The design represents the vision of BELIEF, STRENGTH and VICTORY.

Belief: The footfall held in hand

Strength: The raised arm and hand

Victory: The lightning bolt
